In November of 2019, Kataluna Horse Rescue announced an exciting big project! We took on the job of helping four Andalusian cross mares and their three filly's, for a total of seven horses, find their forever homes! They came from a situation of someone in our mutual social circle who could no longer keep them in his life. He brought them to the ranch and is "sponsoring" them while they wait until they find their human families. Because this is such a big project they will be adopted "as is" to specific homes that will benefit them most, not like our usual rescue and rehabilitation structure. Please continue to read below for the specifics of what we know about each horse. What is described is all the information we have! These horses are getting attention daily and will continue to do so and be worked with until adopted.
Meet our next horse Lakota!
Ginger is an Andalusian Quarter Horse cross around 12 years old, has good feet, very sound and good conformation. She has been mainly used as a brood mare and has not been started under saddle. She is sweet but shy and first and very spunky. Ginger will make a great horse but needs some help along the way! She is currently under training with our sister rescue at Revival Rescue and up for adoption through them!
June is a 10 year old Andalusian mare with her three month old Friesian cross filly Joy. They are two peas in a pod and as sweet as can be! They have been officially adopted as a pair and will be living as happy as they can be!
Faith is an Andalusian Quarter Horse cross at around 12 years of age. She is the sweetest most gentle horse of the bunch! Faith is always the first to greet you and look for scratches, she is very sound and has a great mind and body to go with her! Faith is not herd bound and is comfortable with walk, trot, and canunder saddle . I have even been told she has had kids on her. She will make someone a great partner!
Pearl is an Andalusian Friesian cross yearling! She is another super sweet and loving horse ready for her new home! Pearl will let you halter and brush her however she is not completely halter trained yet. She is very laid back and sound, no problems as far as we can tell!
Opal is a pure Andalusian yearling, most likely closer to two years old. She is one of the other sweetest mares who is the first to greet you at the gate looking for scratches and attention! Opal was reasonably comfortable venturing off on her own, not spooky, and will make someone a GREAT horse! She is going to be a big beautiful girl! Sound and moves nicely.
Mama is a full Andalusian around fifteen years old and has been a broodmare most of her life. I don't believe she has been started on riding. As you can see Mama has a roach back but that doesn't effect her in any way! She keeps to herself until she gets to know you then opens up pretty quick into you pocket pal! She has such a kind heart and very motherly nature. She will take care of you best she can. Mama was actually taken back by her previous owner so is no longer up for adoption.
Lance is a yearling Friesian cross colt. He is the sweetest little boy and will make someone a great partner! He is a little shy at first but one he warms up to you, he turns in to the nicest little pocket pony out there! We know his sire is full Friesian however his dam was a smaller breed which we are unaware of, Lance will most likely mature to be around 14.3hh.
