At Kataluna Horse Rescue, our founder and head trainer, Katie Berman, utilizes a combination of mostly Liberty with some Natural Horsemanship training methods. We encourage happy horses by using clicker-based positive reinforcement to give them the freedom of choice whether they want to participate and engage. This builds a deeper connection between the horse and human and increases confidence and self-esteem. We believe this method of working with horses is vital especially for rescues who may not be as trusting due to lack of care or extreme abuse and neglect in their former living situations. Our main priority on our farm is giving horses the true life of a horse. Which means benefiting herd mentally, as much food supply as we can offer them, and as much individualized care and space that our facilities can properly manage.

Katie is our head trainer here at Kataluna, however managing the rest of the herd mentality as well as the behind the scenes of running the business, Katie also works with two other incredible horse women and trainers on a regular basis at including Mission Farrier School Graduate and Scooters Place Employee Rachel Kimmerly, and lifetime horse owner and trainer specialized in rehab cases of all animals, Danielle Wood.
