Meet Kuzco!

 Kuzco is a three year old Andalusian cross who came into Kataluna in July of 2020 as a stallion who had been kept in a small confined stall for a majority of his life. He was used and trained for Mexican dancing however was worked too hard too early on for his body to develop properly. Because of this he unfortunately developed a very severe case of ringbone in both his front feet. We had gotten many different opinions and outlooks on his condition from professionals and several of them thought the best option was euthanasia or surgery. For a while we were at a stump on what path to follow, however we had a very strong feeling he wasn't ready to leave this life yet. A wonderful volunteer who has also been a previous adopter of Kataluna spent much time researching solutions and was able to get in contact with a doctor at the University of Washington Veterinary program. They discussed different options for different ways to help which now gives us a game plan when and if the time comes for surgical methods! However, as of August 2020, we were contacted by an amazing woman who felt very connected and drawn towards helping Kuzco get his best life. Since then, Kuzco has officially been adopted and moved to Montana where he has been gelded and is receiving very special and detailed care towards his needs. His adopter is working with a hoof and dietary specialist to see if this specific care may help his pain management before proceeding with surgery.
